Sometimes you walk through your day, grumpy at the world and angry for seemingly no reason. Your mood needs to be changed. Finding a good, effective, and natural mood enhancer may be the key to a happier life. Here are a few.

1.    Sleep. Your body may simply be crying out for some rest. Don’t deprive yourself of sleep and them simply feel that you’ll “catch up” on the weekend. Sleep debt works like any other type of debt: you need to pay it off gradually. Set a bedtime and stick to it. Stay off the computer beforehand, eat a light snack and unwind. Allowing yourself the opportunity to sleep goes a long way in recovering your happier self again.
2.    Breathe. Sounds a little easy, doesn’t it? And yet it works for so many people. Take a step back from whatever you are doing, close your eyes, and take some nice, deep, slow breaths. This can calm your heart rate – which might be racing from stress – and clear your head. If you have the time, try to get in a little meditation. It doesn’t need to be any weird, mantra-filled, hippie thing. All it means is taking some time out to breathe and calm yourself down.
3.    Eat a good meal. How great does it feel to eat a home-cooked dinner from Mom? Make yourself a protein-rich meal and sit down and eat it. If you can eat it with somebody, even better. Taking the time to simply eat right is a huge step to enhancing your mood.

There are plenty of great supplements around that can do wonders, but if you need a quick mood enhancer, the only “quick fixes” are the basics. Remember them, and keep working towards a happier you.
